External toothed 31 51 Standard design

31 and 51 series slewing bearings are robust double-row ball units with external gear construction, designed to handle moderate to heavy combined loads in general rotary machinery. Featuring two parallel rows of steel balls and integrated outer gear teeth, these bearings deliver upgraded load capacity and built-in transmission functionality in a compact sectional size. Optimized for intermittent duty cycles, frequent start-stop operation and continuous rotary motion, this series serves as a dependable all-round solution for construction, logistics and industrial rotary equipment.

Typical Applications:

Medium to large cranes and excavators

Tower cranes and mobile cranes

Wind turbine yaw and pitch systems

Large solar tracking arrays

Radar and antenna positioning systems

Heavy-duty industrial turntables

The dual-row ball layout defines the core mechanical advantages of the 31/51 series. By arranging precision steel balls in upper and lower raceway tracks, the structure achieves uniform load distribution across the entire bearing surface. This design enables simultaneous absorption of axial loads, radial loads and significant overturning moments, providing greater rigidity and stability compared with traditional single-row ball slewing bearings. Under variable working loads and long-term cyclic operation, the double-row configuration minimizes rolling friction, structural deflection and mechanical fatigue, maintaining consistent rotary precision throughout prolonged service cycles.

Fitted with precision-machined external involute gears, the series enables direct, efficient mechanical transmission. External gear placement allows easy pinion meshing, accessible installation and straightforward routine maintenance. All gear teeth undergo standardized heat treatment to enhance surface hardness and wear resistance, ensuring low transmission backlash, smooth meshing and stable torque output. The integrated external gear design simplifies overall machine transmission structures, eliminating extra connecting components and improving the compactness and reliability of the whole rotary system.

Manufactured with high-strength alloy steel, these double-row slewing bearings offer excellent structural durability and anti-fatigue performance. Both raceway tracks and gear tooth surfaces receive professional induction hardening treatment to resist abrasion, surface peeling and impact damage under alternating heavy loads. Adopting bilateral multi-lip sealing structures, the bearings effectively block dust, rainwater and fine debris penetration while retaining internal lubricant grease. The reliable sealing system guarantees stable, low-maintenance operation in outdoor construction sites, workshop environments and other harsh industrial scenarios.
